Common fault
Why has my ice maker stopped making ice?
Short answer
Open the bin and look at what is in it, because the cubes split this fault in two before anyone quotes a part.
Why that is usually the answer
Small, hollow or half-formed cubes mean the mold never fills, and that puts the fault on the water side: an overdue filter, low supply pressure, or a fill tube narrowed by scale or closed off by ice. No ice at all, in a freezer that is still cold, is the harvest side instead, which means the module, the thermostat or the ejector motor. Those are opposite repairs. Inland water carries enough mineral content that the starved-fill version is much the more common one here, and a new module bolted onto a starved supply makes the same hollow cubes the old one did.
Where it usually turns out to be
Scale does not arrive overnight, which is why this fault is nearly always described as the ice maker slowly getting worse rather than breaking. The valve screen collects mineral, the fill tube opening narrows, and every month the mold receives slightly less water on a cycle that still runs exactly on schedule. Owners compensate by switching the ice maker off and back on, which resets nothing at all, and then by replacing the filter, which helps for a couple of weeks if the filter was the whole story and does nothing if it was not. The pressure reading at the inlet valve settles it in about a minute.
What we check: static and running pressure at the inlet valve; filter age and any inline filter fitted under the sink, which people genuinely forget is there; the fill tube for scale and for ice; a forced harvest cycle, timed, with the mold heater and the ejector watched through; and the water routing from the shutoff for kinks and splits. If the property runs a softener or draws its own water rather than the city supply, say so when you book. It changes both the likely fault and what we bring for it.
If that matches what yours is doing, say so when you call — it decides which parts come on the van.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you fit factory-spec parts, and where does that leave a factory warranty?
Parts that match the manufacturer's specification for your model, not pattern substitutes. A generic condenser fan motor or control board runs for a while and fails again, usually inside a season, and inland run hours are unkind to both. If the unit is still inside a Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking or Thermador factory warranty, call the manufacturer first: sealed-system cover turns on who opened the system.
The refrigerator is warm by evening and fine again in the morning. Is that worth a call?
Yes, and it is a common call in this valley. A condenser can only shed heat into the air around it, so a coil carrying a season of dust and pollen keeps up at breakfast and has nothing left by five o'clock. That is not intermittent; it is a cooling system out of headroom in the heat, and the fix is a cleaning and a part.
